This class has been postponed until the fall. Enroll in our Summer Basics!
Please check KonaImprov.com for updates on the next Intermediate class! The intermediate six-week series deepens the fundamentals from our Basic Improv
classes and takes you into the world of long form. Building on core skills like listening, agreement, base reality, and character, this class expands your scene work and shows how to connect it all into full, dynamic sets with structure, momentum, and fun. We'll explore essential tools like game of the scene and learning how to recognize it, frame it, and heighten it, along with edits, walk-ons, and tag outs that support strong ensemble play. Scenes won’t just stand alone anymore; they’ll branch out, call back, and culminate to satisfying payoffs while creating a space to play, take risks, and laugh. Alot.

About: This class is taught by Michael Friedman, who has studied and performed improv at the Aloha Theatre, Queen City Comedy, and The World's Greatest Improv School. He has played with The Hi Line, HI-larious, and (the non-HI-prefaced team) Brief Manifesto. Around town, he's known for frequenting small cafes on weekends and hosting the nerdy night at Ola Brew as everyone's favorite trivia host that isn't Ronnie Velveta. Michael loves performing and continuing to learn about improv through classes, shows, books, podcasts, and funny friends around the world.
